Universidade Católica Portuguesa took part, on 14 January in London, in the initial review work of the document Wound Infection in Clinical Practice, promoted by the International Wound Infection Institute (IWII), one of the leading international organisations in the field of wound care and infection.
This meeting brought together international experts from different clinical and scientific areas in a setting of rigorous, practice-oriented discussion, with the aim of updating and strengthening the scientific evidence underpinning the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of wound infection.
The involvement of Universidade Católica Portuguesa in this international review process reflects its ongoing commitment to excellence in research, the internationalisation of knowledge and the production of scientific output with real impact on healthcare. Wound infection remains a global challenge, with significant implications for patient safety, quality of life and the sustainability of health systems, making this work particularly relevant.
The next steps in this process will focus on aligning clinical practices, integrating the best available evidence and developing clear, applicable recommendations, with the aim of improving health outcomes for people living with wounds across different care settings.
This international participation is developed in collaboration with APTFeridas – Associação Portuguesa de Tratamento de Feridas, reinforcing the contribution of Portugal and Universidade Católica Portuguesa to the international scientific agenda in this field.
