Graduated in Medicine, PhD in Biomedical Sciences (Community Health) from the University of Porto (Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas de Abel Salazar).
Was in charge of the Department and the various subjects in the Community Health field as well as Coordinator of the Masters in Oncology (ICBAS, IPO-P, Thomas Jefferson University-USA). Main research area was cancer related, ie., cancer registries.
Is currently a Guest Associate Professor at the Institute of Health Sciences of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and a Researcher at the Interdisciplinary Health Research Center (CIIS). Actively collaborates in research projects in areas such as Wounds and in collaborative projects of intervention in Primary Health Care.
