Health promotion in a school setting, personalised care for people in a hospital environment and the importance of interdisciplinarity in the nursing profession were some of the themes shared by the 4th year Nursing students at the School of Nursing (Porto) at the Clinical Teaching Seminar 10 - Intervention in the Community (EC10) and Clinical Teaching 11 - Integral Nursing (EC11). At the end of the session, honours were awarded to the three best oral presentations and the three best posters presented.
The Clinical Teaching Seminar 10 - Intervention in the Community (EC10) and Clinical Teaching 11 - Integral Nursing (EC11), which took place on 8, 9 and 10 January, aimed to present the students' work in different clinical contexts, promoting the exchange of experiences and the development of knowledge among future nurses. Students and teachers came together to share and reflect on practice and learning in the context of nursing.
EC10 stands out for its practical approach to health in a community context. During the 1st semester, students were involved in projects aimed at the community, developing activities based on the population's health needs. In these interventions, they had the opportunity to work closely with partners and organisations responsible for the projects, paying special attention to the multidisciplinary assessment of the population. The initiatives were developed in different intervention contexts, namely schools, Community Care Units (UCC) and the Catholic Nursing Centre (CEC).
In turn, CE 11 allowed students to consolidate integral competences in nursing practice. This stage, carried out in different health units chosen by the students, focussed on the progressive acquisition of the essential competences for autonomous and responsible practice of the profession.
